01/28/2002 BERNIER, JOSEPH EDWARD (EDDIE) - Age 54, The sudden passing of Edward Bernier of 5 Dawn Place, East Saint John occurred on Saturday evening January 26, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 13, 1947 the son of Anthony (Tony) Bernier and Helen (Leger) Bernier. He was a lifelong resident of Saint John and was a member of Local 213 Plumbers and Pipefitters, having worked at various sites including the Dry Dock and Lepreau. He was last employed by the Irving Oil Refinery. Survived by his wife Marilyn (Dykeman): son Mark Bernier of CFB Petawawa, two daughters Lisa Floyd (Derrick) and Michelle Bernier both of Saint John and one grandson Ryan Floyd. He was one of eight children and the eldest son. He is survived by four sisters Cecilia Walsh (John) of St. Catharine, Annette Witherington (Jim) of Saint John, Freda Piluk (Peter) of Kitchener, and Jeannie Bernier of Saint John; three brothers Allan (Cindy) Bernier, Paul (Gizelle) Bernier and Stephen Bernier all of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Tony Bernier and niece Amie Bernier. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church in East Saint John. Eddie loved life and was always smiling. He treasured his little grandson Ryan who was the light of his life. A Tim Horton patron, he could be found daily with the boys at the Loch Lomond site. He loved fishing and gardening and took great pride in his property and garden. Eddie will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and neighbors. His life was a brief but blessed event to all who knew him. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424), with visitation on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from All Saints Anglican Church on Thursday January 31, 2002 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
