01/25/2002 GRANT, GEORGE KERRY - Age 42 of Saint John New Brunswick formerly of New Glasgow passed away Tuesday January 22, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of James "Jim" and Joan (Fraser) Grant of New Glasgow. Kerry attended New Glasgow Schools and trained as an Industrial Instrument Technician in Dartmouth and Calgary. He was a member of Saint John Local #213 of the Pipe Fitters and Instrument Technicians Union. Kerry had been employed by Cominco Ltd. At Pine Point N.W.T. and the Polaris Mine at Little Cornwallis Island, N.W.T.; Repap Ltd. Pulp Mill Newcastle N.B.; Beldune Power Plant, Bathurst, N.B.; Rio Algom Mine, Yarmouth N.S.; N.S. Power Inc., Darmouth; Abu Dhab Oil Refinery, United Arab Emirutes; Hibernia Oil Platform, Bull Arm, NFLD; Sable Island Oil Platform; and The Irving Oil Refinery, Saint John, N.B. Kerry was and avid fan of all sports and a participant in several. He was especially fond of playing golf. He played in various hockey leagues where his employment was located, up to December 2001. From his travels, employment, and participation in sports, Kerry's life was rich with friends. Besides his parents Kerry is survived by his special friend Sandra Keirstead, Saint John, N.B.; brothers; Robin (Kim) Truro, Bob (Donna), New Glasgow, sister; Kirsten (Mike) Patterson, Fredericton, N.B.; Maternal grandmother Mabel Fraser; Aunts Shirley Grant, Sylvia (William) Kirwan. Niece Kelsey Patterson, nephews Jamie Grant, Scott Grant, Ross Grant, Devin Patterson, former wife Lee-Ann Grant. Predeceased by infant sister Susan, Maternal grandfather Walter Fraser; paternal grandparents George and Dorothy Grant; uncle Bob Fraser. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a memorial service will be held 11am Monday with Rev. Deborah Murray officiating. Burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital.
