“He has achieved success who has left the world better than he found it” Bessie Anderson Stanley John Revie passed away Peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday April 6th, 2004. John was the son of the late Robert Peden and Jean (Steele) Revie. John is survived by his loving wife Mary Edith (Greig) Revie of 59 years and their children, Robert J. of Saint John, Mary Anne G. (Gary) Griffin of Rothesay, Greg H.C. (Tina) of Cambridge Ont. and Catherine P.R. (William) Chandler of Rothesay. One brother, Ronald (Doreen) Revie of Newmarket Ont. one sister, Mrs. Jean Coveyduc of Toronto Ont. Six grandchildren, Heather, Patrick, Michelle, Malinda, Michael and Katie and several cousins, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a brother Robert P. While serving his country in World War II as a Transport Sergeant in the RCAF, John was transferred to Saint John, based in Millidgeville, in August, 1943. Following his discharge in 1945, he and his wife Mary, made their home and raised their family in Saint John. John was a longstanding member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada - Local 213. A skilled welder and pipe fitter, he followed the construction trade in Atlantic Canada and the New England States. Honoring his Scottish heritage, he learned piping at the knee of his Uncle, and was a member of the Irish Regiment, and the Scottish Regiment in Toronto, and later in the first RCAF Auxiliary Pipe Band. As a Pipe Major of the NB Scottish Regiment in Saint John, he led the band in civic and military functions, bringing honor and recognition. As a dedicated member of the faith community of Stella Maris, John donated his time and his talents enhancing the worship space and ministered as an usher. He was also an active member of the Holy Name Society. After retirement, John and Mary joined with their family and friends to travel extensively abroad and throughout North America. John’s joy was his family and his home. Visitations will be held at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) on Saturday April10th, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral Mass will be held at Stella Maris on Monday April 12th, 2004 at 11 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
